TRAIN: The nearest station is Basingstoke (BSK) about three miles away.

BUS: The Stagecoach No 10 bus runs between Basingstoke and Camberley. The nearest stop to the church is in Milkingpen Lane, just a few minutes’ stroll away.

TAXI: There is a large taxi rank at Basingstoke station. A ride to the church will cost approx. £7 each way. Make sure you ask for St Mary’s Old Basing, as there is another St Mary’s church at Eastrop, in town.

BIKE: Old Basing is not far off the National Cycle Network Route 23. The connecting road is a pleasant, low-traffic ride.

CAR: If you must! Old Basing is a very quiet, residential community so please drive carefully and park considerately. The nearest motorway junction is the M3 Junction 6 (Basingstoke). SatNav users should use the postcode RG24 7BW, not that of the Vicarage; this postcode will take you to the junction of The Street and Church Lane, a good place to park but again, please park considerately and do not block drives or gates. Would wedding guests please not park near the entrance to the churchyard footpath on this junction, as that is where the bridal car stops.

The tendency is for wedding guests to cram their cars in as close as possible to the church, especially at the east end of the church in the very narrow Church Lane. This is not really necessary and the ensuing congestion actually causes them more delay. There is plenty of space on The Street, along the stretch to the south-west of the church. You will easily be able to find a space within 200m of the church so it really isn’t worth the hassle of shoe-horning your car into a silly gap right outside the church gates! For large weddings, the vicar may arrange for the local school car-parks to be opened up; please check with your event organiser in advance.

wheelchair,disabled, disability,accessibility
ACCESS FOR THE DISABLED: Access to the churchyard from The Street is very steep and unsuitable for wheelchair users. Instead, use the east gate on Church Lane. The gate is wide enough for vehicles and leads to a level, metalled lane in the churchyard. Near the church building there is a turning bay/parking area for disability badge holders only. The entrance to the building is at the west end.
